April 21, 2009 Board Meeting Agenda Item #31 Title APPROVAL OF COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN SARASOTA COUNTY AND THE SCHOOL BOARD TO INCREASE THE ENHANCED HURRICANE PROTECTION AREA CAPACITY OF THE NEW RIVERVIEW HIGH SCHOOL Description Sarasota County and the School Board are collaborating on the design, construction, maintenance, and use of Riverview High School to increase the capacity in the county for general population emergency sheltering. This agreement provides $400,000 to the school district to expand the Enhanced Protection Area requirements in the new school. This agreement replaces an agreement approved by the School Board on March 4, 2008, but was never acted upon by the Board of County Commissioners. Recommendation That the Board approve the Interlocal Agreement with Sarasota County to increase the enhanced Hurricane Protection Area capacity of the new Riverview High School.
